Dell 8-Way Core i5

Since when is a Core i5 8 way...I mean it's 8 way associative cache and all, but that's hardly a marketing point.

What am I missing here?

:hmm:

My Core i5 750 has not adapted to meet my needs at all! Right now, I need Natalie Portman, but she isn't here.

Clearly, this is not correct advertising.

Clearly a mistake. Even the L3 cache isn't 8-way, its 16 way. I'm sure they got confused with the Hyperthreading enabled parts.

because it's hyperthreading enabled, it can support 8 threads.. therefore "8 way".

stupid marketing gimmick, but whatever.

besides, the marginal returns tend to drop off after 3 way 😉

Yea. But the Core i5 750 don't have Hyperthreading. Therefore, a mistake on Dell's part.

Isn't the L1D$ and L2$ 8-way?

lol @ JFAMD's comment. I bet you this isn't a typo. Its probably just a marketing trick into tricking some granny that they are getting an 8 core processor.

Having worked at that company for many years, including running the website, I would bet that a.) it is not a marketing trick and that b.) it is not meant to be that.

Hmm. So Dell is selling a machine with dual i5-750's, eh?

Vroom!
