Dell 710m - reoccurring hourglass

I just got my Inspiron 710m and for some reason every 8 seconds, the hourglass appears on my pointer. I uninstalled the useless applications that Dell provides, but still get the hourglass. Anybody have any thoughts as to what might be causing this? My guess is some small background application that is doing something, but I can't find it. The CPU usuage is around 1-2%, which is nothing and my memory usage is 261mb out of my 1 gb of shared ram, which also seems normal.
