First impressions:

I just got my dell 600m today via Fedex it wasn't supposed to get here until soemtime mid next week (once it was handed over to the shipper it arrived at my house even before I could get a tracking number, not bad since I ordered on saturday).

I've only played with it for an hour but, right outta the box I gotta say I'm impressed, I really hated every single laptop keyboard I have ever tried but, this one is by far the best outta any of the laptops I've ever typed on IMO.

I plan on installing BF 1942 and even am going to give star wars galaxies a try this weekend if you want any info on how the gaming goes just let me know, I think I would have to attach a mouse to do any serious gaming because I can't imagine using a touchpad for either of those games. BTW I got a 1.3, 256mb, 64mb radeon,SVGA+, 30gb,(make sure you upgrade to at least the G wireless solution if you decide to buy this lappy).

With the extra battery which came bundled free, an extra battery was something I was going to purchase anyway so it saves me the trouble of buying one later (should be able to get around 6-7.5 hrs of battery time with both batteries in) for around $1250 with Taxes coupons ETC... it wasn't a bad deal but, there has been better deals.

I chose this one over the X1000 because I didn't like the X1000 keyboard and I thought if I didn't like the 600m I would just return it and the 600m weighs less and is more portable.

I thought I would be less than impressed with SVGA+ on a 14.1 but, it is much better than I expected, I do have better than 20/20 in both eyes though so it may not be best for everyone.

My only complaints right outta the box are that even thought i wieghs like 5lbs it does seem still a little heavier than ideal but, to get a lappy with a decent graphics card I guess you can't get much lighter (espically in my price range) and all the dell bundled crap software that I will probably force me at some point to reinstall the OS.

I'll post more once I try to get some games going and have used the laptop for a more extended period of time.
Now I'm just waiting on a good deal for a 512 stick of ram.

Any other suggestions on this? The upgrade to G is only $28 ...

Also, how did you manage to price that low? I'm going in circles and I'm getting around $1700 (ouch!) ... did you use any coupons, if so how many? =) thanks!

check out fatwallet.com - the dell one time use coupons section. I just bought a 500M and saved about $250 on it due to a 10% off order coupon and 10% off inspiron laptop coupon. Go on the forums - people will sell each coupon for about $10. How is BF1942 on it?
