Dell 6000 Memory Upgrade

i was about to purchase a new Dell 6000d when i noticed that dell charges too much for memory upgrades. i was thinking about buying it with the stock 256mb and buying 1 gb from newegg and installing it myself. I was wondering if it was easy to do the memory install on this laptop. i have never had one before so i wanted to know if it was too much of a hassle to do. also, is there any brand of laptop memory that is better than the others? thanks for your help.
 
It is an easy addition as the mem slots are located on the underside of the lappy. As for who sells the best mem i can't say 4 sure but newegg has nice return policys from what i hear.
