My friend just bought a brand new Dell 530 using Vista Home Premium. She uses Verizon DSL which works just fine. But every few days her computer will start beeping a modem (phone) busy signal sound. It will go away after restarting the computer. She has no other internet connections set up besides the dsl. I tried disabling the modem in device manager and disabling the dgl.exe (in msconfig) program dell installs for modem misc (wasn't sure if this was a culprit so I just disabled it anyway).
But just a few days later the modem busy signal was back even with the modem disabled in device manager!
Any ideas?
