Dell 5100 Laptop Display Question-Right Place?

I dont know if this is the right category to ask this, but I recently received a dell 5100 laptop with the 15" lcd on a 32meg ati 7500. It is a sweet laptop, but a question aroused as I was playing with it the one day. The back lighting on the lcd is not completely thorough. The bottom corners are extra bright and when you have a dark screen on you can see patches of different brightness throughout the display. My last laptop had it also, but that was a Sager and I consider them pretty junky. When you are doing normal stuff in windows with all different colors it looks great and all but I was just wondering about it. Does anyone else have this problem with dells or other laptops?

Thanks!

It must be a quality control issue. My daughter has the 5100 with the 14" LCD. You can detect uneven back light illumination only if you look very hard, it is normally unnoticable.
