On Dell Canada's web site, it says that you can get a free 128MB USB memory key. However, it seems like if you choose the key, you don't get an option for a floppy drive as well. And yes, the floppy will be used.

Floppy Drive Module [add $39 or $2/month1]
64MB Dell USB Memory Key [add $39 or $2/month1]
64MB Dell USB Memory Key and Floppy Drive [add $78 or $3/month1]
128MB Dell USB Memory Key
No Floppy Drive

It says that. So I'm assuming if I get the 128MB USB key, I don't get a floppy.

And how do these compare with the IBM T40s?

Can you buy the floppy drive as an accessory (add the 500m to your cart, then go to peripherals section of the Dell website, find the fdd, and add it, and then check out)?

Here's a quick breakdown of the 500m v. T40.

500m
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Construction adequate but not great, very weak integrated graphics in 855GM chipset

T40
Pros: Excellent build quality, 10% or so lighter than 500m, better graphics (Radeon 7500 or better)
Cons: Expensive

Neither machine is a bad choice for getting work done, but if you want to play games, you might want to look elsewhere :)

No games, this is strictly a business laptop.

The floppy isn't available as a peripheral. I might get the IBM because using a Visa card, you get free 2nd battery, free 2nd AC adapter and a free nylon bag or some other deal.

I've owned an IBM Thinkpad and I love it. But I was just checking what else there is available as the IBMs for some reason will take 1-2 weeks to even get it in their warehouses.
