Hello all, new here, so not sure if this is the correct place to put this topic...

In any case, I bought the 4550 deal with this configuartion:

P4 2.4 533
128 333 Ram
Geforce4 MX 420
40 Hdd
16x DVD
Soundblaster Live!
15" Flat Panel

Total cost was 768 with a $100 mail in rebate. A few days after that people were talking about stackable coupons and an instant rebate. To top that off, they had the same computer, with a bigger hdd (80 I think) and a CDRW also for the same price before any rebates were included. Now I know I can't get the stackable coupons, that's fine. I also don't really care about the mail in rebate vs an instant one. However, I do care about the CDRW and the bigger HDD. I was told that in 30 days I could call them and they'd either credit the account, or do something else. That being said, my brother called Dell and asked them about it, and all the replied was it was a new promotion, there was nothing they could do.

Now if I bought this computer at a store, and they had a better deal, I'd just return it, but I didn't want to deal with paying for shipping back, waiting another 2 weeks for the computer and all that. So my question is, how do I go about getting compensation for the new deal they had? This was before I even took delivery of the machine. I'm still in the 30 day period, I think I have 4 days since I ordered it (Oct 9th), and I didn't even recieve it till the 21st I think. Suggestions?

Thanks.

In the future, put this in the Brag and Moan thread in the Hot Deals forum.

That said, you actually only have 3 more days before you can return it under the 30 day satisfaction policy. I would highly encourage you to call them up and discuss your concern with them (why did your brother call) and let them know that you intend to return it. Chances are they'll send you to a customer-retention specialist and try to work something out with you like sending you those two parts provided that you do not return the product... but you won't know until you call them.

Heh, ok, I'll keep that in mind next time.

Why did my brother call? Midterms were kicking my ass at Cal, and I didn't really have the time. After that just forgot till recently, so thought I'd ask for some suggestions. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see. So I just point out the differences in the deal, and ask them for the parts that were not included?

Thanks for the reply.

Well, I'm waiting on an email I sent to someone who works there. If I don't get a reply, I'll call them tomorrow. Only have two more days left.

you have 30 days from the invoice date, which is usually a couple days after the order date. you have to say you want to return your system, then they'll xfer you to CPS and they'll be able to get you the promotion

Don't wait for email -- CALL THEM right away. It's so much quicker and you can voice all your grievances in one phone call. It may take more than one day to discuss this thoroughly so call them ASAP!

My experience was that they gave me a $50 credit to keep the system rather than return it.
Of course , i took the $50 credit.:)
