DELL 4100 help

I just acquired a dell 4100 series and when i opened it up I was quite horrified. Proprietary powersupply and mother board galore, yay. anyways, I wanted to swap out the CPU with another chip but when i checked the BIOS all the options to change the chip speed/bus speed/mem speed were greyed out. I couldn't access them. does anyone know if i can change those settings? or if the motherboard will autodetect it?

thanks

Not sure about Dells specifically, but some of the mobos I work with have a config jumper that will allow you to enter BIOS and make some of those changes.
