Dell 40% Off and 2405FPW Hot deal QUESTION

Hey guys, please don't flame, I figure that asking for help on an openly discussed Hot Deal is a valid thread to make and I think my question may be ignored in the other threads.

Can anyone who's dealt with this and had success verify/assist me? Dell has proven wholly retarded on dealing with their own coupons.

Here's the problem that I'm seeing:

Dell is offering 20% off (automatically) on all Dimension desktops at the Dell Home store.

Then:
40% Off Select Dimension Desktop Purchases $999+ ? w/ Coupon Z4$DJ$6HP83NDB ? (may not be combinable w/ Deals of the Week, MIR, $ off, % off, or select other promos - exp after 5000 uses) exp 3/15/06

How is this possible then? The 20% off that's automatically taken off isn't removable and blocks out this coupon! On top of that, the coupon expires tomorrow?!!?!?! From what I can tell I don't think that it's reached it's 5000 users yet, it's only a day old. This is really pissing me off. I want to get one of these systems people keep talking about on here that has the 2405FPW for ~$1100-$1200, but it seems impossible, so if ANYONE CAN HELP ME figure this out it would be greatly appreciated.

On that note . . .

It appears you can't add the 2405 on a lot of their setups now. I still have a system configured and saved in my cart that had the 2405 in it from the Dell home store but I don't know if it'll just screw me over on it if I try to actually buy it.

Help me deal finders! Please 😀

I'll try to help you out.

The reason is, you're probably in the Small Business division website, not the Home/Office, which is where the 40% off coupon is valid. The Dimension 9100/2405FPW for $1199 deal is through Small Business.

Unfortunately, the 40% off coupon only works for their Dimension series, which they moved the Dimension 9100 into the XPS line for their Home/Office division, so you can't use it on that model. Their highest end Dimension is now the E510, and right now they aren't offering the 2405FPW as an option for it, at least through their website. You might be able to call in and have a customer rep be able to do that for you.

Depending on what model of computer you have saved in your cart, the 40% may or may not work.

Hopefully thats helpful to you.

I would recommend calling in. Sometimes you can get a sympathetic customer rep who will do a lot for you, while others won't give you too great a deal. You might even try several times if you can't get one that will offer you a nice deal. I've found that if they see you're serious about buying one, they'll offer some nice incentives usually. If you're a first time customer they might try to win you over with an exceptional deal, but at the same time, they might really only offer a good deal for repeat customers.

Thanks, it's kind of helpful. I managed to get the small business deal to work, just debating if I'm going to order it. If you do look at the Dell home site though, there is a fundamental flaw with that coupon. I don't feel like calling in again, the guy I dealt with before was impossible to understand.

You might try their Chat. I've found it to be quite easy to use, and the people have always been helpful on their.

did that too 😀

sadly, i don't think i'm going to be able to do this; they don't seem to give you an option of using dell preferred credit or whatever through the business site and i don't want to do some kind of business lease.

i'll see if i break into any cold sweats in the middle of the night. i get about 80342039 credit card offers in the mail a day, maybe i'll pick a good one and use this to start building credit.

if i get it i'll end up selling my 19" lcd and the desktop itself, so i'd be able to pay it off fast.
