Dell 3007wfp

Im looking into buying a new lcd either the 2007wfp or the 3007wfp. Dell mentions that it requires a dual DVI for the 3007wfp . But I dont have a dual DVI gpu ,just dvi and vga will it still work just for surfing the web?

its not dual DVI. its dual link DVI. which is totally different from having a dual dvi video card.

most recent cards have dual link DVI ports. If you have an older video card you will only be able to run the monitor at 1280x800.

no, that is not acceptable for internet surfing. text will look like shite.

You're jumping from the 2007 to the 3007? What about the 2407?

(The 2407 @ 1920x1200 will work with standard single-link DVI btw)

So will my 6800 agp be able to run the 3007wfp just for surfing the web at its native res? ALso how the hell can you find out which new gpu's are dual dvi pins?

You need a dual-link DVI card to get native res whether it's surfing or gaming.

The manufacturer's page should have dual-link listed in the specs of the card (maybe not the reseller's site)

If 2560x1600 is a mode for their DVI output, that would be another indication.

Has anyone tried running one of those at 1280x800 for gaming. and setting the monitor to stretch the image - technically the stretched image would be the native rez of the monitor and thus still look good?
