not that LCD. a far better choice is Samsung's 305T is a far better choice. a bit more expensive, but worth it.

Here you can compare some aspects:
Dell 3007WFP-HC Vs. Samsung SyncMaster 305T

The Dell use a S-IPS panel with wide-gamut lamps by LG.Philips.
The Samsung use its own S-PVA panel with normal lamps.

Probably the Dell (combined with a colorimeter) is a better choice for graphic applications.
The S-PVA normally excels on real contrast and text clarity.

alright. if you say so. i admit that i don't know much about LCD panels. what i do know, is that i read a review (i think in trustedreviews.com) that clearly showed that the dell at stock simply sucks. you have to calibrate it or it doesn't look good. Samsung calibrates their panels before they leave the factory.

edit: you're not comparing the right monitors. he asked about the 3007WFP, not about the 3007WFP HC. different versions.

The better factory calibration of the Samsung panel is out of doubt.
This is also evident on the face-to-face measurements I've linked.
But you can admit that a graphics professional without a colorimeter is a bit rare...

Moreover, the IPS based panels "generally" have a better viewing angle than VA panels.
Another good thing for graphics apps.

About wide-gamut lamps, I believed that the 3007WFP-HC were the only version available.
Sorry for the mistake.

Sorry, but i don't think many would agree with that.

The main thing the Samsung has over the Dell is that it seemed to be factory calibrated better.
BeHardware's review: http://www.behardware.com/arti...-dell-and-samsung.html
No HDCP on the Samsung is LOL-worthy...someone was smoking something good if they expect people to buy such a pricey LCD w/o some future capability.

In other regards, most notably the fact that IPS panels > VA panels (anyone who know LCD panel tech knows this), the 3007WFP-HC is superior!

Locut0s, get the Dell 3007WFP-HC or HP LP3065.

I have the regular (non-HC) 3007WFP & absolutely love it.
The HC can only be better :D

I agree 100% with n7. I have a similar thread over in the Video forum and I was looking at the Samsung myself until I saw no HDCP capability. Sorry, but if I'm dropping the kinda change on a monitor, it better be HDCP.

That said, I'm all but sold on the HP. HDCP capable, 3 inputs and the 92% color gamut. Me likey a LOT!

You could get a pair of 2407WFPs for the same price. Personally I like that idea better.

I was debating this as well, but for gaming, you'd only be able to use one monitor (split right in the middle wouldnt' be fun, me thinks) and if you want extra monitors, just get a couple of 20" on either side :)

Some games, such as Supreme Commander, are actually designed to use dual monitors.

Anyway, gaming on a single 2407WFP is very nice. Granted, it's no 30", but you may be able to have the eye candy turned up a bit higher.

I have one that's about a year and a half old and it's dying. The other 3 are humming along just fine. Definitely worth it. :)

In the LG.Philips site there is a nice surprise.
A LM300WQ5 panel with 102% color saturation.
Normally a >100% NTSC gamut is achieved with LED-backlight.

LM300WQ5

Dell 3008WFP on the horizon?
:)

That would be nice. The inverter in one of my 3007's is going bad and it's getting hard to start. :(

Where did you buy it that you don't have the normal 3 yr. warranty?

They were purchased from a VAR and I'm told we have a 4 year coverage on it for anything. :D

The SD card reader stopped working on it about a month ago too. :(

It reads CF and MS fine though.

There are also rumors about an imminent EIZO FlexScan SX3031W.
The price would be around 3000 Euro (4000$).
This sound a bit crazy compared with Dell/Samsung counterparts, but it's possible.
