Dell has some refurb 2709's and I can use my Dell credit to get another 3% off plus I have a coupon. So it would be about $500 shipped. I am a gamer, not hardcore but I so like to play say BF2 and Dragon Age. I also use Vysnc. Is the Dell 2709 good for games? I probably use my system for about 80% of web surfing and other stuff and 20% gaming. Would it be worth while to get it, or does it have some problems with input lag etc....

Thanks

What rev did you get if I might ask? I've heard that Rev 00 is pretty bad for lag, but later Rev's fixed that. I really hope Dell sends me a slightly new Rev....

I got my Dell 2709W yesterday from the Dell outlet. Its in perfect condition. No dead or stuck pixels and no back light bleed and color uniformity is great. The only thing is input lag. I definitely notice it. When gaming its a bit sluggish, not a lot but its their. On the desktop the mouse feels like something is holding onto it as I move it, so I'm assuming that is input lag at work. I got Rev 04. Blacks are nice and deep blacks and white is a nice pure white. One thing I can say is I like how the PVA panels don't have that dirty white feel to it like in IPS panels. The text on the PVA is crystal clear where as the text on my friends U2410 is a tad blurry due to the anti glare coating found on the IPS panels. Overall I like the monitor its just the input lag that bothers me a bit. I'm using a displayport connection. So I will really test it out this weekend and see if I can live with the input lag..

Can I ask what you have it hooked up with? DVI HDMI etc...

I use the hdmi connection however image quality between it and dvi should be identical. I wonder if there is still an unresolved problem with your refurbished monitor.

Yup, that's why scalers suck :(. Some monitors have ways of bypassing the scaler if you turn on 1:1 mapping. Fool around in your driver menu and try the different scaling options.
