Dell 2408WFP availability.

That's the big question. Ordered one when they had the order page up and then the page just disappeared along with my order. Got mailed and called by Dell offering me the 2407 for $100 less which apparently is what has happened to several other people at other forums.

So, nobody knows what's going on with this monitor and why the specs/drivers pages are still on Dell's website but the order page has been MIA for weeks.
 
Too bad the 2408 doesn't support proper scaling on some of the extra inputs, or so I have read. Not sure what the benefit of the 2408 is over the 2407.

Anyway, my wife's fater has a 2407WFP and I have a 2007FP. I can't wait for the 2408WFP to come out to put it next to my 2007FP. It'll be a beautiful thing.

I really wanted to get a 2407WFP but I've heard there is a serious problem with them and Dell isn't fixing it (here)
By the way, what's the advantage of DisplayPort? How would I know if my new computer has it?
 
I'm just guessing that they are having quality control problems with it.

I'd rather stay away from the first batch and wait it out a bit.
 
Looks very nice and lots and lots of connections (I'm happy)

This will more than likely be my next monitor for a new PC this summer. Should be a good upgrade from 2405FPW, the only real problem i've had is the crappy viewing angle and it looks like this beast has more than double 68* -> 178*. Sounds like a perfect monitor.
 
I just got this monitor today and boy is it beautiful. It has every port you would want and feels very sturdy. It even comes with a display port cable. Not sure what that is for.

IIRC, that is the standard set to replace DVI.

But I thought HDMI replaced DVI? The monitor has HDMI as well. No need for a brand new port so soon.
 
Be careful, some pretty extensive problems are being reported on the 2408. I am in the market for one, almost ordered, but stopped when I read those - maybe a firmware flash will help with the problems, as the monitor seems excellent otherwise...
