Hey guys,

First of all, I have been using my Dell 2407WFP-HC monitor for 6 months now, and can definitely say it is the best part of my $6,000 setup. So anyways as you guys might know from my other threads, I am planning on using this monitor for viewing Full HD content from the PS3. However, to ensure this monitor will actually give the sharp picture quality that other Full HD capable LCDs and plasmas provide, I would like to get a few things straight.

1) The colors on the monitor are really nice. I realize when watching some HD 1080p trailers on the monitor the bright scenes are beautiful and vibrant. Yet on the darker screens. the picture quality is not so good. Are there any sort of settings I could change to fix this? or is this just an issue not so much with the monitor but with my graphics cards (SLI MSI 8800 Ultra)?

2) This may not be a monitor problem at all, but I do realize that the HD trailers I downloaded were not as exceptionally smooth as I expected them to be, although they are okay. So the question I ask, is this because the of the monitor or because of the intense load on my graphics cards?

3) Is the video quality of a trailer in 1080p the same as the quality of a video that I watch from the PS3? In other words, am I watching the real thing or is it different when viewing through a computer?

4) Finally, how have any of your experiences been with using this monitor as an HD monitor?

If anybody would like pics I could get them I guess...
Thanks in advance! any help would be greatly appreciated!

1: im pretty sure you are using dvi...but you can manually adjust the colors on your monitors settings...why not try that?

2: intense load probably. also know that trailers can be at 24fps, not at 30fps or higher...its just the way they are. what is your setup like? since you say you have a 6k setup (lucky duck lol), im sure you'd have at least a geforce 8 series card in there as well as a decent dual core cpu, so the problem could be with the file (gay .ts files).

3: its great! the component isnt so great though......im planning to upgrade mine to a 2408 so i can use the hdmi with my ps3. btw, using my ps3 with a dvi-hdmi cable, it runs fantastic at 1080p. completely clear. dunno if the same holds true with using the ps3 with component (thats pointless imo because its just analog coming from a digital source).

I also own a 2407WFP-HC.

I have improved the picture quality by using this simple but fairly complete online calibration page:

http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

Colors on my monitor were too vivid, I reduced each of R, G, and B colors to 85. Left contrast at Default and reduced brightess to 40.

Are you saying the HD videos are choppy. What is your videocard?

If the videos are H.264 Quicktime, I am not especially surprised. Quicktime is a hog.

Have you tried Windows Media Trailers here?
