Dell 2407FPW - Ghosting?

I bought the 2407FPW with my XPS700 at a great price, got it for 2 weeks but only got to really start using it yesterday. I noticed, that for my 2407FPW, when I switch from a dark background to a white background, that I notice some burn itn or ghosting. like the ghost image stays on and fades out within one second, now I think to myself, the monitor is too bright, probably takes a while to turn black to white. so I turned down the brightness all the way down to 15, and i still notice this issue

anybody have a similar issue with the new dell widescreen LCDs? I would assume if 2407 is like this, then 1907 and 2007 would be as well.

thanks

I have the 2407 and I have never noticed this. Not that it should make any difference, but are you using VGA or DVI?

DVI of course! VGA is so 1999!
the screen is great otherwise, i really don't want to return this as mine have no dead pixels. but i do know there's a hw rev. a03 now

Try it VGA style and see if it makes a difference. I have read on some forums about people having issues with their DVI ports.

Worth a shot anyway. I would hate for you to have to return the beautiful beast 😀

I get this on my 2007FPW when I switch from VGA (which I have an external TV-Tuner box connected to) to DVI or SVideo. It happens because I have different setting for those connections. I use the Svideo for game console, DVI for the PC and VGA for TV, so when I switch between the 3 (which I do all the time) it takes a little bit for the monitor to jive to the settings set for each input.

EKKC,

Could you give a easily reproduced example of a dark to light background change that causes ghosting (i.e., exit "so-and-so" game screen to the default windows desktop)? I've never noticed it, but I can try whatever example you give and let you know if I see it. It's a beautiful monitor, but I've heard of so many issues like this that I'd like to prove to myself as well whether they're on my screen or not.

i havent installed any games yet, this is simply a matter of going between vastly different contrast. ie say i have a window with a dark circle, then i revert to my, say, pure white desktop, i would notice that, if i minimize the window, that the circle would take one second to fade out. its not like fading gradually, from gray to white, but i can still barely see the image a split second after i minimize that window, and within another half a second or second, it finally fades to white completely.

think of it as a light switch (but a dark light switch? LOL) that dims 90% immediately, but the rest 10% takes another second to diminish completely.
