Got my Dell 2405 FPW and it is so awesome. No high pitch sounds, like some reported, no ghosting (only tried UT2004 for 1st Person Shooter and World of Warcraft), my Sapphire 9800Pro 128MB is handling it fine too, the frame rate is fine detail levels are still set the same when I have my old 17" CRT (which is medium in most areas), and that is amazing I think.
and according to DPB dead pixel tester, I have none.

I plan to get some component cables so I can hook my Sony DVP-NS775V up to the monitor to see how good of a picture I can get. Does the 2405FPW support HD? if so is it worth an investment to get a newer gen video card that can do HD out?
So many questions for me being a video and audio newb.

Just wondering what type of tests are out there? I want to know if there are any recommended pixel testers, and what I should try to see if the LCD is tip top shape.

Thanks in advance!

The 2405FPW does support HD because it is already above 1080I resolution. I have a 2405 and I found no ghosting in games, great clarity, no noise, but did find a lot of banding in standard DVD watching through the computer. Enough that it was unappealing. I have a 7800GTX with the DVI connection.

banding, what do you mean by that? like can you show me a screenshot and/or tell me which dvd? I like to test things out fully with new stuff I drop big money on.

:p

not in my experience so far. My only problem I have to say is that it is TOO big to play 1st person shooters, i had to move it back more, and it is still great. I was just so use to having the monitor about 18 from my face, but now it is about 24.

I get slight color noise and outline blur, at highest settings and fast movement in vehicles on BF2. Out of the vehicle, or just any other FPS, I see no blur, and the picture and motion is near perfect. The problem is if you want to run everything at high settings with native 1920X1200, you need 2 GTX's in SLI.
