dell 2405fpw review

Hey guys,

I figured I would give you all my opinion of the 2405fpw. I previously had a viewsonic vp912b.

First off, this thing is HUGE!!! Bigger than I expected.

WIth athat being said, you need a VERY VERY top of the line (and actually probaly sli) to run certain games in the native resolution. I am running a bfg 6800 ultra oc and battlefield vietnam is running too slow at this res 🙁

As others have mentioned, the screen is also so big that you cannot focus on the whole screen at once. This can add to the immersion into a game but I'm not sure if I like that.

Finally, the picture just doesn't seem right. I'm trying to get it right but I just can't. For some reason, whites aren't really white (they are a light gray). If you brighten the screen to make it white, other colors get washed out. This is a BIG down part for me.

With that being said, it is VERY uniform and also came with zero dead pixels. At this price, it is a GREAT DEAL. I mean, it only cost a few hundred more than my 19 viewsonic and it is a 24" widescreen.

Right now, not sure if I am going to stay with the viewsonic or the dell. I will post my final decision this weekend.

Yikes, just checked and it's 1920 x 1200 native. The newer Dells seem to interpolate games well so maybe you can give that a shot at a notch or two down from native.
