Dell 2405FPW owners - how does VGA look?

My laptop is my main computer and it only has VGA output, instead of DVI. I've heard that there's not a noticeable difference between VGA and DVI on LCD monitors, but I wanted to ask first. My 21" Trinitron CRT started making the high-pitched death noise yesterday and I may be in the market for a new monitor soon. Right now I come home and hook up the laptop to the CRT and use that, but again, the laptop only has VGA output. So, if you own a 2405FPW, have you tried VGA and how does it look?

I run my main computer off through dvi, but I hooked up a buddie's computer through the vga ports last weekend. I was impressed with the clarity of the vga, and didn't notice any fuzziness or odd coloring in the few minutes that he ran native resolution. He couldn't handle the 1920x1200 resolution though, and adjusted it to something a little bigger. If the external vga of the laptop can handle the native resolution, I think you will be fine.

I think it can. The laptop has a 9600 Radeon with 64mb vram. It's not huge compared to newer cards, but it gets the job done. The only game I'll be playing on it will be HL2, but it's mostly for word processing and graphics design.

lol

sidenote, there is a 21" trinitron on sale pretty damn cheap.

I have a 17" dell lcd (I don't remember the model.) I have tried both DVI, and VGA there wasn't a big diff.

I don't know if this will help, but before I got my 6800U with DVI, I had a GF3Ti200 w/ VGA only. I had to use my Dell 2001FP on the VGA, and it looked perfectly fine.

I didn't notice any bit of difference going from the VGA to DVI. Granted it is a slightly smaller monitor with a slightly smaller resolution (20", 1600x1200).

Goodluck.

I had two 2005FPWs running off of my 6800 at one time, one off the dvi, the other off the vga, for about a weekend. No significant difference noticed.
