Hi! I've been using the 2405fpw Dell LCD with no issues so far for 3 weeks. I've been told that because I've never used/opened the CD rom that came with the 2405 monitor, some useful drivers that are on there and that I'm not getting some functionalities of the monitor.

When I put the CD rom in, there was only the Documentation of the monitor that came up!! i can see that there are other files (many languages, many other folders there), including one called Monitor.exe. But when I clicked it, it simply brought me to the very same documentation file! I cannot open up ANY driver files?!?

Can another 2405 monitor owner or some knowledgeable individual please help?

Many thanks!

Oh, in addition, searching on dell.com didn't help either. There were NO drivers listed for the 2405fpw, as far as i can find. I did several searches on that site. :(

They are a little hard to find. Took me a few days. If you explore the cd instead of letting it do it's autorun you can see them. I just updated my monitor drivers from Device Manager and pointed it towards the cd. Worked like a charm.

thanks guys, i got it from the dell site. still, i'm totally baffled why i cannot get it from my cd rom. i can see it if i use "Explore", but when i double click it, it won't do anything other than simply go to the documentation "page" and that's all i can access. it's totally atypical, usually it either auto loads or you have a choice/menu, right? in any case, i'm hoping that the R91058 is even more current.

also, i have not noticed any changes/differences after i loaded it. the only thing is that under the monitor tab of displays, i see that it now specifically says Dell 2405 rather than some generic display with was what it said before. should i see some differences? or some additional functionalities? thanks again.

I cant remember exatly but i think if your video card supports it and your using DVI it gives you some more options in the drivers. For Nvidia cards under display properties->advanced->GeForce 6800 Ultra[or whatever your card is]->Nview display setting->device settings->device adjustments (whew thats a mouthful) and then... its will give you Digital Flat Panel settings. This "allows you to determine how lower resolutions are displayed on your flatpanel"

The options are 1. Display adapter scaling, 2.centered output, 3.monitor scaling and 4 fixed aspect ratio scaling

I also thought that adding that monitor driver might have installed a color profile for the monitor.

Hope your enjoying yours so far. I was so worried that I might regret dropping the booku bucks for it but every morning when i see this bad boy I fall in love all over again.

Nope, not easy to find. That URL has resulted in some sort-of internal Dell site error for MONTHS now.

Try again, buddy. :)

Fact: the monitor profile INFs are missing from Dell's site, and have been missing for over 2 months. I'm starting to think Dell doesn't give a f*** about this monitor any longer.
