I just received my Dell 2405 and I am impressed by the size of this thing. Awesome!

I am driving an older Dell P990 along (VGA) along with the 2405FPW (DVI) off a nVidia Geforce 5200.
After updating the card with the latest nVida drivers (71.89), I am still unable to get the image to fill the screen completely at 1920x1200. If I use the scaling submenu from the monitor's OSD and select the Fill option, it does fill up the screen, but distorts the image.
If I set it to 1:1 or Aspect, the image has two black vertical bars on either side. And the image pans horizontally, i.e. if I move the mouse beyond the screen edge, I can pan to the unviewable area.
Another strange thing is on the OSD menu, it says
Main 2:DVI-D
Resolution 1600x1200 60Hz
Optimum 1920x1200 60Hz

Why doesn't it say Resolution to be 1920x1200? I tried using 16 bits instead of 32 bits, but it didn't help. How do I get it to fit the entire screen?

Thx in advance,
Gupit

You need to reduce the blanking for the DVI. 1920x1200 is out of spec for standard DVI.

I have the same problem now as the OP. I've tried the reduced blanking setting in the display properties but it does not seem to "keep." I make the change, hit apply, go back to the setting and it's as if i didn't make a change.

You won't be able to display that resolution with the FX 5200 card. It even says specifically on Dell's website that certain cards won't run at 1920x1200. My friend ordered the Dell 2105 and he can't display that resolution with his FX 5200 either.
