So I was looking into getting the Dell 2405F monitor. I wont be upgrading to Vista any time soon, and I dont play Hi-Definition content on my PC so no need to worry about HDCP and POW-WOW or whatever its called. The main thing im worried about is gaming performance. I heard that the Dell's will scale resolutions but not sure how or exactly what they are doing. Basically the only game i play is Counter-Strike Source, which supports wide screen displays.

So is my computer powerfull enough to run CS at the appropriate resolutions?

AMD 64 3200+ (939 pin)
1 gig Geil ram (tested pretty dang speedy using mem test program)
2 Raptor 36 gig drives in raid 0
1 WD 200 gig SATA drive
Sound Blaster Audigy
Asus A8N SLi board
1 Leadtek 6800 pci-e Non Ultra card (256 bit just not ultra)

Think thats about it.

Well, the rig listed in my sig runs CoD2, Morrowind, Dark Age of Camelot, and a number of other games on the same monitor in wide screen resolutions (typically 1650 x 1080, but I have run some of them in 1920 x 1200 as well). Not sure how this translates to your rig, but for what it's worth.

Oh, by the way, if you set the monitor to use the original aspect ratio, instead of fill mode, then games that don't support wide screen will just center in the screen. That's how I run BF2 at 1600 x 1200.
