Dell 2405 plus a 9000pro?

I am going to purchase the Dell 2405fp very soon. Right now i have a 9000pro. I was wondering if i need to upgrade just to run the monitor at its native 1900x1200 resolution? i dont plan on gaming or anything. How about a 9200Se or 9600np?

TIA

I believe those cards should be able to do 1920x1200 over DVI as long as they support Reduced Blanking Interval...which is called "reduce DVI frequency" in the ATI drivers if I remember correctly.

It should be able to run it, although that monitor may exceed the limit for the dvi. If it does, the 9200 and 9600 would probobaly be just the same. You might want to get a cheap workstation card, as those often support high resoulutions.

The 9200 and 9600 will do what you need if the 9000 doesn't. However, I don't believe you will have a problem with any of those cards. I have a 9600xt and tried it out on a 2450 and it works just fine. Not the greatest for gaming, but since that's not what you're doing, it's more than enough.

Thx guys, right now i am using a 9200SE because it is fanless, you think the 64-bit imemory will be a problem?

TIA

Nope. Just don't expect to do any 3D work or games on it. 😛

Laptop 9000 pro is a little different from a desktop 9000 pro I would believe. As for not being able to do 3D work with the 9200SE I don't know. But you can game with it. Surprisingly it won't run ultra high resolutions or something, but if you're not in it for the highest FPS or details, a 9200 can get you through. Just my opinion because I've used that card before.

It should run fine if you get the drivers set up like SynthDude2001 said.
