Dell 2405 Monitor

I just tried to get two seperate rigs to run side by side with the Picture By Picture mode and picture in picture. It won't let me, why?!!!

edit: one DVI and one VGA? why not??

why not? I'm not sure, but I can only run S-video/Composite in the PiP/splitscreen function.
If you run S-video out from second rig, it should work, (and look like total ass, no doubt)...

You can't view both of those at the same time. You need to be looking at either VGA or DVI & S-video or Component.

The best you'll be able to do is hook one PC up with DVI and the other with VGA and switch inputs. The PiP / PBP is really meant for viewing the output of a video device on a PC desktop. It works really well with the YPbPr connection to a HD satellite receiver and DVI / VGA. I would have liked to have seen a bigger difference between the three window sizes in PiP mode.

did you people get that monitor for a more spacious desk top experience, or cos you wanted to watch dvds, etc. with it?

both actually... also the reason I'll be upgrading to the 3005FPW if Dell ever releases it.

I was expecting to have two computers to one screen. When I work on someone's computer, like a fresh install, I would continue to use my primary rig for games, surfing, etc. without having to hit the button. It may sound lazy, but when I working on someone's computer last night, I was flipping back and forth every 2~4 minutes for over an hour. That got annoying.
And I don't really want a second screen taking up desktop space. But totally sux that the monitor can't do that.

The 2405 offers PIP with different input sources: DVI & D-Sub, or DVI and composite, ect, ect. It should work: I haven't tried the input, but I have set mine up for dual viewage and thought it would work sweet!
