Hello all. I got a Dell 2100fp recently, "upgrading" from a 19" Trinitron monitor, mainly because of space contrains. I have a big question though.

From all reports, I've heard that LCD's have problems with pure black, because they are blocking light. I have the opposite problem though. Using the DVI output, with my GF4-4200 and Monitor set to the brightest brightness level, I cannot get anything close to a pure white, it looks noticebly grey, especially compared to my Trinitron. I am wondering if this is normal, because my laptop LCD doesn't seem to have this problem.

Hmm. That's real strange. Is the color setting on your monitor at default? You don't have on Digital Vibrance do you?

many LCD's look best with a specific driver for them installed rather than the windows supplied one

On my Samsung 191T I`ve the brightness right down on 10 (maximum is 100) and white still looks like white, what`s it like in analogue mode the same? You can try adjusting the gamma, brightness controls in the Nvidia display panel to see if that helps at all.

I would normally say this is not normal to have a greyish white but you really need somebody else that has the same model to confirm if it`s normal or not.
