DELL 21" Widescreen attached to a dell x300 laptop?

I was thinking of buying something like the popular DELL 2005fpw 21" widescreen (or some widescreen monitor)

I'd like to attach it to an older Dell x300 which uses intel 855GM integrated graphics. (normal video cable connection, I don't think it has dvi)

Will this work? How can I know if this 855GM thing can support widescreen resolutions?

Also, can I turn the monitor 90' (so it is taller than it is wide) to fit a whole page of text on screen at once and have it work with the 855GM properly in this position?

 
I think the turning option is only availible in the new gateway LCDs. I however do not know this as I don't own a dell 2005 FPW 🙂.
 
Yes, any of the dell DVI equipped flat panels can be rotated 90 degrees. I would think intel extreme graphics can do 2d at that resolution but I can't say for sure.
 
It should work, you won't be able to run any 3d graphics at that resolution, but, I think intel graphics supports up to 2048x15xx (don't rember excact numbers).
