Dell 2007WFP banding?

Since this looks like it is an in game screen dump function, it looks like the fault of the game, not the screen. But this is what banding would look like even if this was properly done smooth sky and the monitor was at fault.

This is exactly why you test your monitor, so you know why you get these kind of results(and get less of them). If you know your monitor is good, you know it is poor software.

Should that last row be smooth?

CheckeMON says "Discrete color steps should be seen except maybe the lowest gradient".

My old 2005 FPW doesn't seem to show the banding on that last row.

 
That last row is smooth. You are giving us screen shots from the computer, not the display, so we don't see what you see.

At this point there is hardly the need to test it. Every 2007 seems to have banding over DVI. I think the only thing that would change is some kind of feedback mechanism into the factory and a new production run. But honestly, I don't know how they could have missed this.

A decision must have been made to sell them like this, figuring most people wouldn't notice.
 
Bottom row has no banding on my CRT, second to the last row has very slight banding.
 
I'm glad I stuck with the VX922 as I'm a true gamer at at heart, and I don't watch movies on my monitor. Send it back and buy a viewsonic.
 
They did something to skies in WoW with the 1.10 patch, they are banded on everyone I've asked about it's screens. I have tested it personally on a 6600GT and an X850XT on a dell 2005FPW, a rosewill 17" LCD and a 19" envision CRT and they all get the same banding.

I can see the gradients on the bottom row of that test image on my 2005FPW BTW BroadbandGamer, ya might have your colors set up wrong or something..

While WoW probably did something to their skies, the 2005's are unknown to have the banding problem the 2007's are having. As far as anyone knows, every 2007WFP has a banding problem on and only using DVI.

Thanks for the info Sarvatt!

I just got done testing WoW on a Sony LCD and as you stated, the banding is still there. However, it wasn't as visible (not even close) as the banding was on my 2007WFP. On the 2007 it stands out like a sore thumb.

The banding in WoW is visible on my sons 2005 FPW (you have to look pretty hard to spot it) but it is not even close to the banding I get on my 2007WFP.

I'm thinking maybe it's a setting on the 2007WFP that needs to be changed.

 
Keep in mind that the banding in the sky changes based on the time of day you're looking at it (sky gets lighter and darker) and changes depending on the zone you're in and if theres any weather going on there at the time. It looks horrible on my 2005FPW most of the time so if it is worse on the 2007WFP like you're saying I think I'd be sending it back too 😀
 
I have two 2007WFP's and i'm getting banding on both and my friend is also getting it on his, so at this point it's safe to say that it's there on all of them.

Btw, I also see it from VGA input.
