In theory the banding issues were fixed in Rev 01 they are now on Rev 02. I just hope it come with no banding and still uses an IPS panel... free shipping no ideas what is stackable.

unfortunately, Dell does not have an answer for this:

5:12:04 PM CU_Rep_Caroline: With regards to that. We have limited information of that yet and it needs to go through a forum to have a complete detail of that Harry.
5:12:41 PM You: so there's no way to tell if this issue is resolved with the shipping displays?
5:12:53 PM CU_Rep_Caroline: No. Not yet.
5:13:01 PM CU_Rep_Caroline: Is there anything else I can help you with regarding your concern?
5:13:21 PM You: Thanks no. You answered my question.

Rev 01 did not fix the banding issues. I and several others have had horrible banding issues with the Rev 01 panels. I just got a Rev 02 panel as a replacement, and it's wonderful. Still is a S-IPS panel.

How can one tell if the LCDs are S-IPS panels or not? Also, do you like the 2007FPW more than your Gateway 21" LCD?

You can go into the service menu to determine the panel type. As far as liking it better, I wouldn't know. I haven' used the second monitor, I only test it for dead pixels and banding, then boxed it back up for sale. It seems like a nice monitor though, especially for the money.

behardware.com's review shows the 2007WFP's reponse time is on par with the NEC 20WGX² FP.

and even thought Dell's rated refresh is 12-16MS, it is more on par with a 8MS panel.

I would agree that it is on par with a 8ms panel. I own both a Gateway FPD2185W and a Viewsonic VX2025, and it performs just as well.

If you could get this Dell or the Viewsonic 2025 at the same price, which would you buy? These are the two 20" FPW's that I'm trying to decide between.

CCityInstaller: how do you get to the service menu of the dells when mine arrives (I think I will be able to see if it is IPS, but still). I assume the revision is on a white sticker.

Also, I read somewhere that Chris on the dell forum thought all the hubs would be cleared of the old rev by july 1st or so, but mine shipped today. The sale is a week long or so therefore if you haven't order it might be prudent to simply wait a few more days.

I know you weren't talking to me, but I have choosen the Dell for MORE money. You can get the Viewsonic at newegg for 325 or so. The Dell has (in priniple) the following advantages:

Pros:
USB hub
S-video input
HDCP support
S-IPS panel (more stable colors on angle, for the moment, they may use S-PVA in the future).

Cons:
You might have to send your monitor back for a replacement because of the banding issues, but in theory they are gone now I will post my exp.

It might be worse for movies as the 2025 is suppost to be very good.

A handful of people have had other issues with the 2007FPW.

That is a pretty good list of reasons to choose the dell. I really think that the 2007WFP is a great choice. I think that the Viewsonic is also an excellent choice, but the Dell is a slight favorite, especially considering all the extra inputs, and the fact that it uses an S-IPS panel.

DrWho, the revision will be stamped on the rear of the monitor, right near the serial number. As far as getting into the service menu, with the monitor powered off, press and hold the + and MENU buttons while turing the power on. Once the monitor powers on, release the buttons and press the - button. The SVC menu will appear, with the panel type at the top. If the panel type reads "PLP WSXGA LM201W01", then it's a Philips S-IPS panel.

I ended up getting an A01 in the mail. That said I really don't see any 'banding' unless it is set to multimedia mode or similar. Then it quite aweful. CCinstaller what were the differences you noted between A00, A01, and A02. If you still have them pics would be great, but from what was on the dell forum I gather that the 'banding' fix was A01 and A02 was a color calibration option of some sort. But I've asked for clarification there as well.

To potential buyers, my 2007wfp came from the Nashville hub (I live in MD). 0 dead pixels, IPS panel, rev A01. Seems solid on all tests as my old S-PVA based Samsung 152T which at the time of its issue was top notch LCD (g-g ~32ms I think). But so far as gradients they look basicly the same on the samsung 8-bit panel and this one. Viewing angles are better, and the monitor by default (dell) has lower brightness/contrast (I'm useing DVI so only brightness is acessable), the Samsung has more of a cool cast to it (blue). I love that the monitor raises to a good height unlike my other one and the LG 203WTX that I tired briefly (was supost to be IPS, but was TN with a blindingly powerful backlight). Its no fun sloching in your chair to look perfectly stright on into the panel.

I am sorry I don't have the pictures anymore. I was cleaning out my online albums and deleted them. I did notice that the colors seem pretty vivid on the A02, but I didnt use it long enough to really test it.

Just got a reply on the dell forum. According the moderator you must have just had a terriable sample as banding was fixed in A01 and its just a color adjustment option that he doesn't even know the use of for A02.
