Message pretty much asks it all. I'm looking at some LCD panels at the moment; but keep going back and forth between a true PC monitor and a mixed TV/PC LCD panel.

Basically I need a nice all around LCD. Done a lot of research, but was hoping to get more personal experiences/reviews of these monitors. Looking for gaming, dvd playback, tv playback (preferably), and irc/forums/web browsing/all that good stuff.

All of them look like damn good monitors. My price range is about 500 or so dollars and plan on getting a 2nd one if I can afford it sometime in the future for dual displays.

Anyway, any personal thoughts and opinions would be helpful and welcomed.

Thank you,

Hey, thanks for the reply. One question I have for you on the 2005FPW is about DVD playback. Do widescreen DVD's take up the whole screen or do you still see black bands on the top and bottom of the picture and how much of the screen is unused if so?

Ok.

As your first screen, the 2005FPW will be nice, but I'm going to say this over and over again. It's only as tall as a 17" LCD due to widescreen 16:10 ratio. Your text will still be as small, and while you do get to see more, I don't like 1280x1024 on a 17" so I definitely won't like the resolution on a 20" widescreen. I have to lean forward to read or blow up the text. You can't bee too far from your monitor.

19" LCD? Yes I like these although 5:4 does make things more difficult. At least you can see the text clearly from a good distance and not have to lean forward to strain. The 193P is really nice, but overpriced. Thus I recommend the Viewsonic VP191b (which I have myself). A new revision is out (the VP930B... don't confuse w/ Samsung's 930B) which offers better contrast. If you got the bucks, you can get the 193P, but VP191b/VP930b is a seriously awesome monitor. Other monitors don't come close.

If you really hav ethe money, I recommend a 24" widescreen (2405FPW). But other than that, don't go widescreen with a 20" screen. That's just the cheap way of going widescreen but settling for worse than a 19" LCD.

Yea that 2405FPW looks awesome, but it's expensive. It definately is a great deal bigger than the 2005FPW, but... just dont have that kind of cash unless i get some huge deal dropping it to like 700.

I appreciate your post, and that's definately one monitor I'm thinking about a lot.
