Dell 2005FPW Shaky/Flickering Text

I've hooked up my Dell 2005FPW to my old video card (Nvidia GeForce2 MX 400) through the VGA port (card doesn't have DVI). I'm running a 1.4 Athlon T-bird on Windows XP.

The card supports the Dell's native resolution, and everything looks fine when running normal computer apps. However when I play DVD's, the text in the movies (i.e. the credits at the beginning of the movie) look unclear and the letters themselves look like they're flickering. The movie itself also isn't very sharp.

I haven't purchased a video card for a while, so before I got a new one, I wanted to find out if this blurry/flickering text problem a product of using the VGA connector or is it because of some monitor setting? I've tried Dell's troubleshooting recommendations to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks

like he said, his card doesn't have any DVI port. i might be wrong but i think it's your video card that is giving the problem. for that monitor to perform at it's best, using DVI connection is a must.

Thanks for the tips.

I downloaded cleartype and I installed a new video card that has a DVI port (ATI Radeon 9250). With cleartype installed and with a DVI connection, I'm still having the same problem when playing DVD movies. Any text appears to flicker, and sometimes, things in the background will flicker as well.

Any other ideas as to why I might be having this problem?
