I have a custom built PC

Chaintech VNF4 Ultra
Powercolor ATi x800
AMD 64 3000+ (Venice)
XP Pro
3gig Ram

Now I used to use a massive 21' CRT. Recently I splurged and bought a Dell 2005FPW. I love the monitor except a week or two into it I noticed a problem. The screen depening on the color has tons of red dots in the background. The general rule of thumb for this is the darker the screen the more visable it is, though not all dark spots have the red dots. It is really weird. I would play world of warcraft, and some times there would be red dots in some areas, and I'd ****** my field of vision and the red dots would move elsewhere. Another example is the top bar of the window. It is all the same color but only in one place are there two small rows of red dots.

Any help would be aprechiated....thanks!

Hmm are you saying the red dots shift around each time? If they're in one place permanently, that suggests you have stuck pixels. If they change positions then you might have interference causing that problem. Are you using DVI or VGA and is it the original cable that came with the 2005 FPW?

Well I've been experimenting.

I am using DVI
The cable is the original that Dell bought me
I tried using the VGA cable as well, from Dell with a converter .... but I had the same problem
The red dots are shifting, I cam move them across the screen
I luged out my old 21' CRT, attached it with the Dell VGA cable, and when I move the red pixels to the CRT they disapear!

I hope this helps out some more!

Seriously, if you just bought your lcd, just contact Dell and they will take care of you. I had bad one when I first purchased it. Once I contacted them, I got a new replacement in a week and it has been problem free for over a year now.

I'm going to try, but I don't want to be LCD-less so I rather fix it myself...unless they'll cross ship. I'll call dell later, but any other ideas?

Sounds like the LCD is defective. Out of curiousity, what re-vision is your screen? A03? Another AT'er posted an issue with an A03 rev. 2005FPW with issues that no one else with an older revision has had. I wonder if Dell changed something with the A03 rev's.

Edit: Idiot am I, I looked on the back its revision A02

Edit@2 - I got a replacement being shipped out right now...we'll see how it works in comparison
