Dell 2005fpw Problem

Oscillator

Junior Member
I just hooked up my dell 2005fpw via dvi to my Nvidia Quadro900 XGL as a primary monitor in a 2 monitor set up. Everything was working great until World of Warcraft locked up on me. I had to hard boot my pc and when it came back on there was this red ghosting on the black background of the windows start up screen. On further inspection all dark colors were getting this red ghosting. All I have tried so far is to reinstall the latest nvidia drivers. NOt sure what else to try. Any ideas?

Sounds like the video card is on the way out. Swap the monitors, does the problem persist? If it's still the 2005FPW then it sounds like the monitor. If not, try a different video card (only need to boot up once to check if it's there, no need to wipe the drivers out or anything).

Its only on the Dell 2005fpw. My other monitor works fine. Do you think I need to replace the monitor or is there a fix? I have been hunting dell's forum and it seems like World of Warcraft and these monitors may have problems.

The Quadro definitely is not a gamer card and the drivers are certainly
not optimized for them, so it is doubtful that is an issue.

The red ghosting is indicative of a cable\adapter\connection problem.
