saw this deal for both lcd monitor, was wondering which one is better? If you have the money for only 1 monitor which one would you take? And whats the major difference for both monitor, other than one is wide screen....

Have a 2005 model..rocks. I thought the widescreen was going to be a hassle but I love it.

Wrong Forum.

Now that we have that out of the way, the 2005FPW supposedly has a slightly better response time, but it's not too much of a difference. They're both good LCD's, and it really comes down to which aspect ratio/resolution you prefer. I have the 2005FPW myself.

This topic has been gone over MANY times all-ready, do a search and you will find like 20 other threads going through every detail of the two monitors. But because I am nice, here are some of the biggest differences...

2001fp is 1600x1200 = 1920000 pixels
2005fpw is 1680x1050 = 1764000 pixels, more physical space on the 2001

2001fp has 16ms refresh
2005fps has 12ms grey to grey and 16ms back to white refresh, faster on average than the 2001

2001fp generall has fewer backlight problems
2005fpw first few versions had some backlight bleeding

Other differences, the 2005fpw can swivel to a long, vertical screen. The 2005fpw is a 16:10 aspect, some games do not support widescreen so you will have to strech or play with black bars on the sides (about an 18" lcd in size then). That all being said, I have the 2005fpw and love it

A friend of mine just ordered a 2005FPW for $416 (including tax, S&H).

I personally own a 2001FP and am very satisfied. Can't say I miss the widescreen part.

I have the 2001FP and I love it. No ghosting in any of the latest games. I have no experience with the 2005FPW though. I just wanted a standard res (1600x1200) instead of the "weird" 1680x1050 for compatiablity reasons.

Used a 2005fpw before & loved it, especially widescreen in HL2. Haven't used a 2001fp before so can't compare. I would choose the probably 2005fpw between the two though.

Between the two, why do you prefer the 2005FPW?

I've had all 3 - 2000fp, 20001fp and now 2005fpw.

I like the fpw for the widescreen thing - movies look sweet on it. Also fpw has no powerbrick - you can use regualr pc cable for it. And my 2001 had some backlight bleeding, fpw doesnt at all .

I originally ordered the 2001 for the standard resolutions. Fell into marketing and ended up ordering the 2005 instead for $345 shipped. Even if the 2001 is a superior monitor...I'm not going to feel cheated for what I got.

all that said, i'd rather my notebook screen be 1680x1050. 1400x1050 isn't quite enough for two side by side word docs.

Great price!

You're going to love the 20" of goodness. I paid $540 for my 2001FP, and I thought it was worth it. For $350? Thats a hell of a deal.
