DELL 2005FPW graphics card

Hi All

I'm not a gamer. I am looking for a budget graphics card that will drive the 2005FPW at 1250x1680 across DVI.

Any suggestions? I tried a Geforce4 MX4000, but the could not do the full res over the DVI.

Just look for the cheapest card with DVI that can handle that resolution. I know the FX5200 can do 1680x1050 (it is my lappy), but I have no idea about 1680x1250...

Edit: As I thought, the 2005FP is 1680x1050 (not 1250). The 5200 should be more than enough itf you are not doing any gaming...

Thanks for the quick responses.

Yes, whoops on the 1250! Trouble I am have is seeing where the max DVI handling is stated in the specs of the cards. I have read that DVI standard is to a max 1200x1600 therefore it is only certain cards that handle it.

The MX4000 had a far higher stated resolution for analogue, but didn't deliver across the DVI link. SO I suppose I looking for anyone that has actually used a card/2005FPW across DVI successfully.

Well, I can tell you that for a fact, the 5200s will drive this monitor just fine. We have several G5s here using that card and this monitor here at work.

I had some major DVI-related issues with a Gigabyte FX 5200 and a Dell 1905FP, so I'd tend to recommend a vanilla Radeon 9600 instead. It is a bit more expensive, but ATi's integrated DVI transmitter pretty much guarantees that the 9600 will be trouble free when it comes to DVI. The FX 5200s are a bit spotty because the DVI quality depends on how good of a transmitter the card vendor used. Some will be fully within spec and work flawlessly (Apple's OEM seems use better quality transmitters than normal) while others will be more problematic on certain picky monitors (like the 1905FP).

I'm not sure how picky the 2005FPW is, though. It might be a bit more tolderant of out of spec DVI signals than the 1905FP is. If so, you might be fine with a FX 5200.
