Dell 2005FPW brightness, and I mean bright!

I just got a 2005FPW a couple days ago, and I'm trying to let it sink in. Widescreen and the desktop space is great, but is anyone else as pained by the brightness as I am? Monitor brightness is at 0, and to get anything not retina burning I have to make it to the point where its almost black in games. I think I'm going to return it. The monitor is gorgeous otherwise. Slight motion blur in some games.

Anyone else with problems? It is seriously hurting my eyes.

Give it a few days, you'll get used to it. Mine bugged me at first too, and I wasn't sure I was going to keep. I'm glad I did though.

I had to turn my brightness down to about 30 when I got my 2005FPW because yes it was damn bright. After a few months of usage, I'm now set at brightness of about 50. No nbacklight bleed... well hardly any at all at brightness 60 or less. I couldn't imagine using it at 100... there's not a huge difference between 0 and 100, but when a white background comes up (for say, WIndows Explorer), 100 just makes me have to nearly look away!

my two 2001fp are bright and hard to use in dark conditions. i just turn brightness to zero for both, still very bright, while you may think it sucks, i actually think its not that bad since you shouldn't work in dark anyway

You should be able to adjust the brightness thru your video card driver. I have to set mine down through the video card driver in order to look at my screen comfortablely.

I don't have a whole lot of ambient light in the room. I have tried tuning down the driver brightness, but it makes games too dark. Quite the conundrum. I have awhile left on my 21 days, so I'm gonna use it wisely.
