When I play games that are 800 x 600 they are split, with a black bar down the middle of the screen.
The right side of the game is on the left side of the monitor and then continues onto the right side of the monitor with the center not being used.
Also a little is left out.
It also does this if I set my desktop to 800 x 600.
On the Dell website it says that 800 x 600 is a allowable resolution.
So whats wrong?
Tech suport is clueless. One guy I talked to even thought it was my hard drive then said he had to transfer me(the 3rd time) so I just hung up.
Can you guys help?

What does that have to do with anything? anyways....

I am getting my 2001fp tonight if UPS ever shows up. I can try to see if it does the same thing on mine and see if I can come up with a resolution.

Some games only go as high as 800 x 600.Like Diablo 2-LoD.

Also thanks Jbt, that would be great. When you get it just set you desktop to 800 x 600 and see if it's split.

Thanks in advance.

You aren't using any sort of refresh rate hacks or have previous settings from an old monitor, right?

It sounds like the 2001fp is simply getting a strange scan range from your video card. What does it look like in safe mode?

In safe mode it only runs in 640 x 480.(can't move the little bar to change the resolution in the proprieties menu)
Anyways in safe mode it's okay, except everythings huge because of the low resolution.
I have integrated graphics if that helps.
Could it be my GPU or video drivers?I think I have the latest drivers.
It's really bugging me and tech support can't help.

What makes you think it's the monitor and not the video card?

Any why the hell is this in Software?

I'd say its video card or video drivers outputting incorrect information, with the split screen outcome just being the monitor's way of trying to deal with what it was given.
