Dell 2001fp problem.

When I play games that are 800 x 600 they are split, with a black bar down the middle of the screen.
The right side of the game is on the left side of the monitor and then continues onto the right side of the monitor with the center not being used.
Also a little is left out.
It also does this if I set my desktop to 800 x 600.
On the Dell website it says that 800 x 600 is a allowable resolution.
So whats wrong?
Tech suport is clueless. One guy I talked to even thought it was my hard drive then said he had to transfer me(the 3rd time) so I just hung up.
Can you guys help?

What game(s)? When I first got my 2001fp, I had a similar problem with Battlefield 1942. Turned out it was due to enabling refresh rates above 60 Hz caused it. Once I un-enabled these refresh rates, all was fine.

Check that you are not forcing the refresh rate to something above 60 Hz.

Been here done this.

The resolution of the monitor needs to match the in-game resolution of the game, if the game is set 800x600 then the beginning resolution of the monitor needs to be set this way. I found this to be true for Everquest, Everquest II so I'm wondering if it is something to do with games that require DirectX 9 since the monitor auto adjusts.

I have only had this problem running an analog feed to this monitor not with a DVI feed.
