Dell 2001FP owners

Nocturnal

Lifer
I have been hearing that there are many problems with this wonderful/cheap monitor.

Can anyone elaborate on what these problems are?

I picked up the monitor and I noticed that the monitor seems to have a blusih tint? I think I may just be seeing things but when I hook it up to DVI and use my 1901 in VGA the whites are a little different. The white on the VGA is a little brighter than the white on the DVI.

Any ideas if this is a defect or not?

mine seemed like it had a little bit of "mouse lag" or something. I changed some setting in my vid card and it went away

it's also a little bright. i use it on the lowest monitor brightness setting and its perfect!

Uh it says last edited by poiuyt. How come not Anandtech Moderator?

Or are pics allowed now?

I haven't had any problem with my 2001FP. The only complaint I have is that it makes my Envision 9110E look like crap when I use it as a second monitor. 😉

Yeah, I think that's what I'll have to do. Unfortunately, I have a buying freeze in place until January. 😉

I've got three of them myself. Best LCD panel I've ever had the pleasure to use, and the first one I'd tried that had decent enough colors to do graphics work on. I also think they look better running off of video input than any of the LCD TVs that I'd checked out.

Can't think of anything negative to say about them so far and I've had these since the beginning of the year.

Brightness inconsistency. It's more bright in the upper and lower left corners in dark backgrounds.

"Screen door effect" as many have called it. At certain times, the monitor adjusts itself and it feels as if you're looking through a screen door.

These don't bother me enough to return it because you have to be looking very hard to notice.
I'm one of those that can tell the difference between 75 and 85 Hz on a CRT (let alone 60 Hz).
Plus I got it brand new from Dell for $650 😀

It's much easier on the eyes than my 19" Diamondtron CRT running 1600*1200 @ 85 Hz (which was a beauty).
It also doubles as my 20" LCD TV in my bedroom because it has S-Video and composite inputs.

The newer ones seem to be more consistantly higher quality than the older ones. I guess LG's FAB is getting better at making these panels. There are fewer and fewer reports of inconsistant brightness, screen door, and dead pixels.

I just got one a few days ago, and it's great. Very even brightness and no dead or stuck pixels or subpixels.

When I turn on my 2001FP from a cold boot sometimes I get sparkly red dots all over the display. Turning it off and back on again makes it go away. I'm not sure it's due to the display itself or some driver glitch.

I love my Dell 1900FP and am relieved it has a 3 year warranty.

Plus my VISA credit card extends that another year for free 🙂

Wanna trade?

The 1901FP is at an all time low now, I was so tempted to buy one (or a dozen).

I can easily resell them for $650 each, new suckers are everywhere. You just gotta know where to look 😛

I've had one for about a year now ... no problems at all. I upgraded from 2000fp and been happy ever since

i love it

the only thing i notice that people complain about is the brightness but it doesnt bother me at all
