Dell 1905FP and 2D Text Problem

Just got my new Dell 1905FP. I now have a dual LCD setup with 2001 and 1905.

However, I've noticed that the text on 1905 looks funny. Fuzzy is not exactly the right word. It sort of looks like the text is not focused correctly, but not uniformly so. It would be smooth in parts of the letters, and in other parts, it looks like the pixels are slightly off or something. My 2001 does not have any of these issues. It is also not a cable or video card problem.

Do I have a defective LCD or has anyone else experienced this issue?

By the way, mine is a AUO panel, not the Samsung panel, as people have been discussing recently.

Im pretty sure that this is a common problem with those LCD's. I was thinking about getting one when it was posted in the Hot Deals Section....But decided not too😉
Read about people and their fuzzy problem.

I'm assuming that you have a card with one DVI out and one VGA out, so you are running the 2001FP off of DVI and the 1905FP off of VGA. If the 1905FP is hooked up to VGA, chances are that you need to go into the panel's onscreen menu and tweak the phase and clock of the panel until the text sharpens up. It is a normal thing. Usualy the panel will auto adjust corectly, but sometimes you need to tweak the high res panels a bit in order to get everything as sharp as it needs to be. With DVI, you get a pure digital signal, so the 2001FP doesn't need any adjusting. My wife ran into the same issue with her LCD at work (which is a dual monitor setup as well, oddly enough) and actually called me today wondering how to fix it.

This is why they just need to stop making VGA cards and make everything with DVI-only with a VGa adapter thrown in the box for backwards compatability (even onboard video) so you don't have to futz around to get the picture smoothed out.

I have a dual DVI card. The 1905 is hooked up via DVI as is the 2001.

The main reason I got the 1905 is to run it in portrait mode and use it for browsing websites.

Any other ideas on what might be the problem.

And by the way, the problem is there with cleartype on and off.

Just to add one more thing ... this is not a ghosting issue. I do see some ghosting with moving screens (games and in movies), but this monitor is soley used for 2D text, and what I'm describing is a completely separate issue besides ghosting.

The brightness and contrast on the 1905 is clearly superior to 2001, but this fuzzy text is very irritating to my eyes. I mave have to return this thing.
