Dell 18" LCD

I've heard a lot of good things about the Dell LCD's, and I'm looking to get rid of my 19" Syncmaster CRT for space, heat and power consumption issues.

While I'd like to get the Dell 20", I don't want to go another $400-$500 dollars for an X800 right now, and I'd rather not be forced to play my games in 800 x 600.

Does anyone out there have the Dell 18"? I can't find a response time listed on Dell's website for the 18", and I'd like to know how it would look for moderate gaming (KotOR, Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind). I don't play FPS, so I don't need a lightning fast monitor, just one that can hold up to my 3D RPG's and turn based strategy games with little or no ghosting. I don't do any DVD watching on my computer, either (that's why I have a home theatre).

I know the Dell 19" is a 25ms screen (like most of the 19" LCD's), so I'd like to know what the 18" specs are. Or does anyone want to recommend the Dell 19" as a good moderate gaming LCD?

Also, does anyone know what Dell's return policy is on dead pixels? I usually order everything from newegg, but I'm a little put off on the "8 dead pixels" policy. I know that each manufacturer's policies are different, and I'd like to know what Dell's is.

I have two of the 1800's and I am very impressed with them. I do a fair amount of gaming, and have never had issues with ghosting, even though Dells specifications would suggest otherwise. IIRC, the response time is either 25 or 30ms, but the performance of the monitor, for whatever reason, outpaces the specs for it.

I would take the 18" over the 19" as the 19" exhibits some ghosting.

Buy one. You won't regret it.
Don't worry about the response time, there's less ghosting than every other lcd i've tried.
Once you get it be sure to go to microsoft and go through the cleartype web interface.
Because the monitor is a BGR instead of RGB it needs to be set up differently.

Thanks for the tip. I've never heard of this before, but when I read the message I did a search on the microsoft website. I may even try this on my current CRT at home.

OK, so I think it's going to be the 1800. Thanks for the input. :)
