I have a Dell 15 (1558) laptop with the following components:

intel core i5-430m 2.26 ghz
4 gb1333mhz dual channel ddr3 sd ram
500 gb (7200rpm) sata hard drive
15.6 720 p w led display

The ram currently consist of 2 x 2gb = 4 ram

If I change one of the 2 x 2 ram with a 4 gb ( therefore having 6 ram) or change both with 4 gb (therefore having 8 gb) will it have a significant effect on the speed of the laptop?

Yes... Ubuntu loves more memory.
