I'm thinking about doing a delivery driver. It is a route job that I go to same people every week to pick up and deliver packages. I have found some companies that pays $6.75 ~ $9.00 per hour and 0.24 cents per mile.

I know that it is a wear and tear on my car since I heard that I have to drive 80 mile a day or more. Is this a lot of driving? All the locations are near by area so that it's not like driving one location to another is 30 miles..

I don't if this is worth it. I have civic honda so it's fairly economic in terms of gas per mile..

Anyone done this type of job?? Any suggestion?? I need all the input i can get before I decide to go for it.

Thanks all

For that kind of money I'm sure you can find a better job. And yes, 80 miles a day is a lot of miles to put on your car. 24 cents a mile doesn't seem right either...the federal standard is 36.5 cents per mile for business expenses.

Bottom line, I wouldn't take the job. The mileage you'll put on your car will cost you down the line.

And most likely your insurance will not cover you while you're delivering or using it for commercial business.

I don't know what kind of education or experience you have, or what the job market is like where you live.
Personally, I would much prefer a job like that to working in McDonald's, WalMart or a supermarket.
Drive the car, listen to the radio, think your own thoughts and don't deal with the unwashed masses.
