Deleting the startup items in Msconfig

I had spyware installed my computer one time and I got rid of all of it. I decided to just clean up the startup item tab. However the startup items are still there in the startup item in msconfig.

Is there any way to remove those startup thats are gone and are unchecked?

The best way to get rid of a startup item is to set the application to not start with windows. Of courxe, not every application offers that choice.

Then, you can look under All Programs/Startup. Some applications put a shortcut to an executable there. You can delete that if you do not what that spplication to start when windows starts.

Finally, there are some applications that do not fit either of those cases.
For those, you can download a registry cleaner like jv16PowerTools from here
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=jv16.
You can use that to remove the startup item.

unchecked items in msconfig is in your registry. just remove them. as always, backup registry if u dont know what u doing.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig
