Deleting several gigs of data so damn slow.

Windows XP Pro SP2, I'm already bypassing the Recycle Bin and it takes forever and ten days to delete several gigs of files. Is there anyway that I can speed this deletion process up via the command line or something?

It's not the size of the files, it's the amount of files that takes up the time. Deleting one 5gb file takes a second. But deleting five million 1kb files takes a helluva loooooooooooong time. Just the way it is. And I believe the command line is slower than the explorer window.

uh,heh, maybe someone installed a kernel mode driver that securely erases files on delete.
but eh, probably not.
