How do I get rid of files in use.. Things like index.dat?

I am running NTFS

Using the Win2000 CD, go into Recovery Console, login as Admin, but I get access denied when trying to delete the file, or CD to the directory.

Now what? Possible?

Possible to delete some, but not all, by going into security settings for the file/directory and changing ownership to Administrator or whomever. Undeletable files include those that are created when you delete a User without first disabling it, a practice recommended against by MS.

by the way, the recovery console is not a dos prompt, it only will allow you to mess with the WINNT directory and the root directory.

I always was told to nuke index.dat when I nuked cookies.

Could not do it in Win2000.. Found the fix

Answer is.. Log on as an other user with Admin rights, then delete index.dat from the reg user folder. TaaDaaaa
