Deleting Duplicate iPod Songs

My wife has a bunch of duplicates listed in her iTunes. How do I delete the duplicates?
There is 50 million questions like this on google but there are no correct answers that has worked for me.
I tried moving them to another folder and letting Windows do the work but I can't move them. I can select and copy them but paste is grayed out and ctl-v doesn't work. Don't want to dl someone elses software to have it look for duplicates.
Surely apple has this capability built in?
iTunes 10
iPod nano

In iTunes, go to File->View Duplicates

Then, just go through that list and delete half of them. When I do it, I make sure that delete the lower quality one. It won't automatically delete them for you, so you will ahve to choose.

It's grayed out.

I am doing it one by one.

Under The Device, I have Music selected.
There are many, duplicates. Though I am about 1/2 done deleting them one by one.

Right, you need to have the Library selected, and then re-sync. It is annoying, and no I cannot explain why they do it that way.

Thanks. I deleted then one by one but I have a feeling this will crop up again.

OK, are all the songs listed in "Duplicates" safe to delete or am I supposed to save one of them?
Thanks.

There's Dupin

I don't have time to manually delete the dupes iTunes introduces when I'm trying to import changes into the library that I've had to make elsewhere - never let me down, that is as far as I know - no tracks have obviously gone walkies after a Dupin pass.

Thank god for Zune-based devices finally becoming available this side of the pond soon - No more dupes, no more network restrictions.

EDIT: Oh, I thought it was on a Mac. You're hosed in Windows AFAIK - has to be done manually.

Because itunes sucks and make things alot more difficult than they have to be. I have a couple alblums where there are several dupes but the idea of resyncing and manually selecting everything is a nightmare.
