Deleting a system folder in Win2k Pro?

I would like to remove a My Camera system folder that was created while I was testing
a friends digital camera. How do you go about removing it?

No dice. It has to be something not readily available because the Control
Panel is also a system folder and I'm sure Microsoft made it difficult to delete
a system folder for that reason.

goto the ntfs permissions, you should notice that "system" has full control and ownership and nobody else has access.

take ownership and change the permisssions so that you have access rights, and viola... you will be able to delete it.

Could you possibly elaborate on the steps needed to change the ntfs permissions. I'm not familiar with the process.
Thanks.

Thanks.
1. Right click on the folder and click on "properties"
2. goto the "security" tab
3. click on the "advanced" button
4. goto the "owner" tab
5. highlight "administrators" and click okay
6. in the security dialog click on "add"
7. in the add dialog type in "administrators" and click "okay"
8. the group "administrators" will now show up on the security tab, click on it once to highlight it
9. below you will see the permissions listed for this group, under the "allow" column place a checkmark in "full control"
10. Click "okay" and delete away!

Hmm...

That's actually a differant type of folder than I thought it was.... It's one of those damn accessability folders like the "mobile device" that I have for my iPaq. And that I dont know how to remove.

Anyone know how you could remove that?

Thanks for the Screen Shot Clemson

Like the "ControlPanel" listing, it appears to not be an actual folder, but rather, a construct that is defined in the registry. You can likely find it somewhere in the registry and delete the listing. However, an additional issue is what does this construct refer to? Could be that it refers to an actual folder, by whatever name, in which camera pictures are stored - if so, it is likely in your (or the All Users) Documents and Settings folder. Or, it might bring up camera configuration settings, either through the registry or some program that the camera install put somewhere on your hard drive. The best bet, I think, would be to search the camera mfg's web site for info on how, easiest, to uninstall the entire mess.

I would imagine that removing the camera from the device manager and removing the software for it would remove it from there.

Actually, in the software that came with the camera (you obviously installed the software), there will be some place to disable that feature. I can't tell you where, but I guarantee you that it's there. If you don't want to look there, look in the hkey local machine directory and find the camera brand (or camera software brand if different) and you should see some type of shell extension there. Get rid of that.
