Deleted Partition while building second drive

Specs on my main Rig below. I plugged a second Notebook drive into a spare SATA port and wanted to install XP on it. For good measure, I went into the BOIS and made the drive i wanted to update the primary boot drive, then restarted the computer with an XP Pro disk to set that drive up.

Problem is, during the install, I was asked which partition to install on. I had forgotten about the C: and D: Drive flipflop I had done and I inadvertently deleted the partition (there was only one) on my main Hard Drive.

I subsequently installed the new OS on the proper drive, so my main drive is not over-written, but the partition is gone. My BIOS sees it, but the Windows 7 install disc does not see it to repair. In fact. the Windows 7 disc is asking for drivers for the drive to to an install (I was going to sneak into the install sequence far enough to build a partition, then back out.

Question: Can i simply re insert the XP Disk I just built, then use FDisk on my original disk to restore the partition? What else will I need to do? Restore the Partiton Boot Record and Master Boot record for that disk?

ps don't do computer work like this with the screaming kids running around. distractions have consequences.

Get testdisk. Assuming you did a quick format, it should work great.

Actually, I did not reformat the disc that I deleted the partition on. I formatted and installed the OS on the proper disc.
