The new changes were so bad I experienced an actual, physical 'anger' moment. Just no reason for that kind of thing. I really enjoyed being able to connect with friends old and new, and in the last few years it had become the primary communication tool for me. I sent FB a nice little informational message about what they could do with their 'update'.

I'm really not a big Google+ fan, but at least it's not offensive at this point. Huge number of others I'm friends with have done the same. I'd love to see some subscriber and use numbers for the two services before and after the new system.

I noticed that today, too. Getting a bit tired of Facebook. Apparently now, if you are tagged in a photo, it has to be on your wall. I only like comments on my wall, no images, videos, etc. I tried to remove some images from my wall that I got tagged in, but it removes it from your wall and from the photos you are tagged in. Arg.

I don't understand why people complain so much about the layout changes. What's the difference, who cares

What did they do now? I only ever use it on my phone anymore.

Most of the updates they've had in the past 18 months have been God awful...not one useful feature added and a lot of usability removed, but I was still able to use it at least. Not so since the newest batch. Whoever is in charge of their 'direction' has to have the IQ of a kumquat.

People always go apeshit whenever Facebook changes the layout. I don't get it really. It looks fine to me.

It's not cool to delete facebook.

Nor is it cool to use facebook.

It's a mere social tool. I don't know what the hate is on geek internet forums. I suspect because they have no friends...

I know FB doesn't represent being social, but statistically more likely.

For starters, you're constantly harassed with stupid little pop-up hints here, there, etc. It's annoying as hell. I need a hint that shows me how to turn that shit off, other than that I'm doing just fine kthxbye.

It's not just layout, though that's a fairly big deal. No events panel means events are now useless as they're only functional when displayed and it's ridiculous to have to go to a new page to get them...especially when what replaced them (second summary news feed) is utterly useless. It also means I've lost what was essentially my calendar for things like birthdays.

Lost the chronological ordering of posts which makes the entire concept of a news feed/status update useless. The 'suggested' stories crap is ridiculous and just clutters the feed as well as duplicating posts. Etc, etc.

The difference is something being usable or not. If it's not usable, obviously no reason to have it. Hence the current situation. I'm sure for people that use the service differently than I do the changes may not impact them. Good on them.

You didn't lose your calendar. Just click on Events under your Favorites. If it's that important to you, just leave an extra tab open in your browser for Events.

Seriously, that would make someone delete their FB?

Like I said, ridiculous. The point is not having to have two pages/apps open. Hell I can run outlook or similar if I just want that one function, but the point and beauty was having everything integrated and easy to use. They've surrendered that for things that aren't in any way useful, negating the purpose and usability of the site.

And again, read the rest. For what/how I utilized the site the changes essentially rendered it useless. Sure I could use it some other way, but that's not why I'm there. Moreover it's a constant stream of these failures in design. THAT is what makes someone delete it.

I signed up for facebook back in 2001. I really liked it when it was much more simple. I still have it, but I don't find myself on it unless I receive a message or invite. Not because I am too cool, or not cool enough, maybe I just grew out of it. So basically, all these changes just go right over my head, as long as I can still get to the inbox.

2001? Lol.

Yeah, I miss the "old" Facebook, too. Privacy became a huge concern once their user numbers began growing. Also, opening it up to everyone sucks! Oh well, I'm just a regular old user who hates change. My Facebook will probably go bye-bye before the end of the year.

I don't know why companies do that dumb shit. It would be easy as hell to let people add the elements they want to a page, and remove others. You should be able to drag/drop, resize, and remove everything from a page.

I've never understood why UI designers feel the compulsion to break what's working instead of fixing the stuff that is broken.

it should be simple. when I go to my facebook news feed, let me see all updates (status, picture uploads, etc) and then from there, I'm capable of choosing what I want to block (hide friends who spam, hide any/all game requests)
