You mean you aren't already making $80k in the consulting world? Wow that's pretty horrible. Honestly, I would just suggest jumping around between competitors for a while.

Lol, guess you saw the post before I deleted. I'm making that, but it's engineering consulting. I'm just sick of it, I have no motivation anymore. Literally zero interest.

No travel, no teamwork, no networking, learning nothing that's useful outside of engineering, jeans/button down culture sucks, field work sucks, pay is topped out, only decent thing is job security, flexibility, and 40 hour work weeks.

dude that sounds great to me (provided it pays enough)

i work in a company like that and have no intentions of leaving until i retire

if i never get another promotion i'll be thrilled, because moving up just means more responsibility and managing people and i hate that

I could certainly stay here for a long time, but I just know that eventually I'm going to move. I don't see the point in delaying that..

yeah probably no reason to delay it, if you can use the new job to increase your salary by the usual %20 job hopping amount
